MOUNT YASUR | En af de største grunde til at jeg længe har drømt om at besøge Vanuatu er for at se den aktive vulkan Yasur. Det er eftersigende den lettest tilgængelige aktive vulkan i verden og selvom den ikke er så aktiv for tiden, så var det stadig et imponerende syn.Vi vandrede til toppen sammen med vores lokale guide Donavan i selskab med et par børn fra hans landsby, besætningen fra Machete og hundene Brownie & Wolf. Det var en lang, men smuk vandring igennem junglen. Heldigvis motiverede børnene hinanden og de legede sig igennem. I det sidste lys klatrede vi op af vulkanens side og stod pludselig og så direkte ned i det levende krater. Bare den rumlende lyd i sig selv var magisk og da den sprøjtede lava op i krateret var jeg egentlig glad for at den trods alt ikke er så aktiv for tiden. Vi gik de knap 8 km retur til bugten i mørke, med pandelamper på hovedet, imponerede over elementernes kræfter og fulde af taknemmelighed over at have fået endnu en stor oplevelse i bagagen.nn| ENG |nOne of the biggest reasons I have long dreamed of visiting Vanuatu is to see the active volcano Yasur. It is said to be the most accessible active volcano in the world and although it is not that active at the moment, it was still an impressive sight.We hiked to the top with our local guide Donavan in the company of a couple of children from his village, the crew from Machete and the dogs Brownie & Wolf. It was a long but beautiful hike through the jungle. Fortunately, the children motivated each other and they played through it. In the last light, we climbed up the side of the volcano and suddenly stood and looked directly into the living crater. Just the rumbling sound itself was magical and when it sprayed lava into the crater I was actually glad that it is not that active at the moment after all. We walked the almost 8 km back to the bay in the dark, with headlamps on our heads, impressed by the power of the elements and full of gratitude for having had another great experience in our luggage.
