Onsdag stod i dragefiskens tegn. Blowing Bubbles havde arrangeret en to dages jagt, hvor fangsten derefter blev sendt til deres ven Alexis´ restaurant i Belgien, for at skabe opmærksomhed om den lille fisk.Dragefisken er en invasiv art her i Caribien og de skader koralrevenes økosystemer. Fisken er virkelig smuk og derfor populær som akvariefisk, så man mener at fiskene er blevet udsat Florida engang i 1980´erne. De har spredt sig massivt siden da og er nu at finde i hele det Caribiske hav.Fisken er giftig og stik skulle være voldsomt smertefulde, men de smager helt fabelagtigt. De skydes med spyd og samles derefter i en zookeeper, et plastikrør så man ikke stikker sig på fiskens pigge. Når fisken renses klippes finnerne med de giftige pigge af mens man holder den i munden og så kan fisken fileteres på normal vis. Vi var 12 dykkere der deltog i projektet, som enten spottere eller jagere. Martin var desværre ikke helt på toppen, så det var kun mig der deltog, med et morgendyk, et eftermiddagsdyk og et natdyk inden hosten også ramte mig// ENG // Wednesday was all about lionfish. Blowing Bubbles had arranged two days of lion fish hunting together with their friend Alexis, where the catch was shipped to Alexis´ restaurant in Belgium, to increase awareness about the little fish. The lionfish in an invasive species here in the Caribbean and they´re harming the ecosystem of the coral reefs. The fish is very beautiful and therefore popular for aquariums, so probably it all started with someone getting rid of their fish in Florida in the mid 1980´s and now they can be found all over the Caribbean Sea. The lionfish is poisonous, but they´re super delicious to eat. You shoot them with a pole spear and they´re then collected in a zookeeper, a plastic tube, so you´re not getting stung by the spikes. When cleaning the fish you cut the finns with a scissor while holding it in its mouth and then the fish can be filleted just like any other fish. We were 12 divers participating either as spotters or hunters. Unfortunately Martin was not feeling well, so it was just me participating with a morning, an afternoon and a nightdive on Wednesday, before the cold catched me too.
