Everyone was nice and helpful and we were lucky that both customs and immigration came out to us in the bay even though it is a 1.5 hour drive from their office. Port Resolution is the only sheltered anchorage bay on Tanna and sheltered is probably a bit of an overstatement, because we had so big swells coming in and at times we have rolled around so well that it has felt like we were sailing. The anchorage is named after Captain Cook´s ship Resolution, which docked in the bay back in 1774 and it is also he who gave the island its name – Tanna, which is one of the local words for land. Vanuatu has more than 100 different local languages, the highest number in the world in relation to the population, but the official languages ââare the local Bislama, English and French.
