Vi fik alle ledt tankerne hen på en blanding mellem et månelandskab og en afrikansk safari, blot med vulkanens rumlen som baggrund frem for vilde dyr.nn| ENG |nTo soak up a little more of the volcano’s magic, we took a trip up to the back of the volcano on Saturday to explore the large ash fields. As we drove through all the ash and sand, a car in front of us got stuck and of course we jumped in to help and suddenly we were in the middle of a photo session. Until the year 2000, there was a large lake at the foot of the volcano and the area was lush and a big gathering place for the nearby villages. Now there is only a narrow strip of water running through the slopes, after the riverbank towards the sea collapsed. Our guide no longer thought it was beautiful, she missed the lush of the past, but for us it was now an incredible and very beautiful landscape. We all thought of a mix between a lunar landscape and an African safari, only with the rumbling of the volcano as a background instead of wild animals.
