PORT VILA | Vi har haft et par dage i Vanuatus lille hovedstad Port Vila og selvom byen ikke er stor så føltes det som en stor kontrast til landsbylivet på Tanna. Heldigvis har alle stadig været utrolig søde og vi har fået nogle fine oplevelser og møder med os. Vi besøgte det lille nationalmuseum og havde den fineste snak med Edgar, som fortalte om de traditionelle sandtegninger og om den manddomsprøve hans fødeø Pentecost er kendt for, hvor de unge springer ud fra trætårne med lianer om benene. Det var både inspirerende og interessant og han var så sød at forære os sin bog om sandtegninger. Vi har været til ‘Vanuatu Made´ messe, hvor vi både så forskellige stande, håndværk, var til koncert og så modeshow, hvor især kategorien ‘Island dress´ var god underholdning. Vi har set firedance på en lille bar, hvor vi var heldige også selv at få lov til at prøve kræfter med disciplinen. Vi har fået ordnet lidt praktisk, fyldt båden op med mad, været på apoteket og vi har forkælet os selv med friske hindbær fra det lokale marked og de lækreste hindbærtærter.nn| ENG |nWe spent a few days in Vanuatu´s small capital, Port Vila, and although the city is not big, it is very different from the village life in Tanna. Luckily, they were all incredibly nice and we had some great experiences and encounters with them. We visited the small national museum and had a nice chat with Edgar, who told us about the traditional sand drawings and the manhood test that his home island of Pentecost is famous for, where young men jump off tree branches with vines around their feet. It was both inspiring and interesting, and he was kind enough to give us his book on sand drawings. We visited the Vanuatu Made fair, where we had a different stand, crafts, a concert and a fashion show, especially in the. Island dresses category. We saw a fire dance show in a small bar, where we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to test our skills in this area. We have filled the boat with food, visited the pharmacy and treated ourselves to fresh raspberries from the local market and the most delicious raspberry tarts.
